Agri Buzz: Local Pepper Output Seen Hurt On Weather

Domestic black pepper production is expected to be around 55000-60000 tonnes during this harvesting season, according to Consortium of Pepper Growers Organisations, noted media reports this week. This is a downward revision from around 65000-70000 tonnes expected a few months back as drought and untimely rains in key producing belts in Southern states is seen hurting the yields. The country has estimated to have produced 55500 tonnes of black pepper in 2016-17.
