Economic Buzz: Eurozone Inflation Rises In May

Eurozone inflation accelerated to 1.9 percent in May largely on energy prices, from 1.2 percent in April, flash estimate from Eurostat showed Thursday. The expected rate was 1.6 percent. The European Central Bank targets below, but close to 2 percent inflation. Core inflation that excludes prices of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, increased to 1.1 percent in May from 0.7 percent a month ago.
