Economic Buzz: Eurozone Retail Sales Plunge In December 2019

Eurozone retail sales dropped at the fastest pace in around seven-and-a-half years in December, preliminary data from Eurostat showed on Tuesday. Retail sales, excluding automobile trade, declined 1.6% from November. On a year-on-year basis, retail sales rose 0.8% in December after a 1.8% edged up in November, revised from 1.1%. For the full year 2018, retail sales gained an average 1.4% in the euro area.
